Why a veteran-owned company offers it

Mike retired after 20 years in the Air Force, where he was a crew chief on MH-53 PAVE LOW helicopters. He was stationed at Hurlburt Field, has lived in Navarre ever since, and started Freer’s in 2007. Our five towns sit around Hurlburt Field, Eglin, NAS Whiting Field and NAS Pensacola.

Freer’s is a veteran owned, reliable and honest business. They are great people who provide outstanding service. A great company to do business with.

★★★★★Jim K.Google review

It’s a military community. In Navarre’s ZIP code (32566), 25% of adults are veterans, more than three times Florida’s 7% (US Census ACS 2020–2024, ZIP 32566 (opens in a new tab)). That figure counts veterans only, not active-duty service members.

Google tags Freer’s reviews with “military friendly” 7 times. That reputation comes from how Mike runs the business: on time, prepared, and straight with people.

Just moved in? A first-week HVAC checklist

A PCS move often means a home with a system you know nothing about. Spend fifteen minutes on this in your first week:

  1. Find the filter and note its size. Replace it if it’s dirty. ENERGY STAR suggests checking it monthly (ENERGY STAR maintenance checklist (opens in a new tab)).
  2. Read the outdoor unit’s label. The manufacture date tells you the system’s age.
  3. Test both modes. Run cooling, then heat, for a few minutes each.
  4. Find the indoor unit and its drain line. Look for water or rust in the drain pan.
  5. Learn the thermostat, including whether it shows “aux” or “emergency” heat.
  6. Ask the seller or landlord for service records.
  7. Book a tune-up for a baseline. Our maintenance agreement covers spring and fall.
